I finally found and bought a lot of wooden rulers which I cut up and made into the shape of a crown. They needed a bit of photoshopping to change their garish colour and to get rid of the "made in china" printed on them.
I printed off scaled images of rulers and glued them onto a cardboard crown I made. It looked alright but I knew I wasn't going to be happy with it not being the real thing.
I wasn't happy with the photoshop results so I played around with different methods of how to achieve a clean image. I used an image from the internet of lots of wooden rulers lined up and made a few clipping masks in the shape of crowns to do this.
For our new project I was given the word "wooden ruler" the idea is to celebrate this everyday object.
I had trouble finding decent wooden rulers so I had to photoshop my idea.
I was thinking about the signage we see in airports and made these for my project. Instead of the symbol of an airplane which is used to indicate the word departure, I used the letter E. The other image is based on the departure board and the font used.
Made this up in Illustrator and Photoshop. I took photos of the family's passports and arranged them into the letter E. The file size was huge and my laptop crashed a couple of times but I got there in the end. I think this is a good image for Emigration, tonnes of passports piled on top of one another.
These are photos of some boxes I made.
