I am moving onto sound, the sound of clapping hands and how I can visualise that. I've been looking at the artist Susan Morris because her work is similar to the last piece I did and I came across one in particular that reminded me of a graphic equaliser. Later when I was looking for a phone number in the phone book I noticed how it also looked like the image made by an equaliser.
I've printed off my visualization of the movement of the space of a hand clap. Thanks to Cathy, Eoin and Patrick for your help getting this set up.
This is a video showing how the artist constructs her pieces. She uses wool and over a thousand nails! Her installations are her investigation into spatial perception.
I used Illustrator to make some vectors of the shape of compressed space. I am going to use them in a installation.
I'm really exploring the necessary, empty space around me and I love Rachel Whiteread's interpretations on this concept. Here she has made physical the empty space of a hot water bottle.
I combined to pieces that I've made into one mixed media sculpture and I like the result.
Update on the ceramic piece. It dried out nicely but it broke when I moved it. It needs to be smaller and wider.
Started working on some 2D interpretations and also trying out different materials.
